fishy

when it comes to crafts I hardly throw anything away, if a piece of card is big enough to cut a circle from I will keep it, and all of those scraps have been lovingly cut using my smallest spellbinders nestabilities circle die over the weekend so that I had hundreds of little circles in blue and green

These have then been layered together to form this fish scale look, I look some card and covered it with double sided tape (I use a 2" wide tape from elizabeth crafts to do this) then just started sticking the circles down in this overlapping pattern

finished with a lawn fawn sentiment, then I have a card, but I don't just have one card, like many of the cards I make I have also made 'kits' up as well, this is so my mum can make up a few cards as well

picture book

When I was a kid I had a concertina picture thing - you pulled it out and looked through a spy hole to see the scene in all of it's depth.

As I made this card I was thinking of that.

The windows were all cut using spellbinders nest abilities and lots of lots of layers of colouring all done for The Daily Marker 30 day.

the birds of sympathy

I hate making sympathy cards, but following on from this idea, this card came together really easily, and now I have one ready should I unfortunately need it.

happy thoughts, i've got those happy thoughts...

I keep on coming back to this card design, it's something I love, the simpleness of it, but I switch it up each time... it is a great use of scraps too. This is another card I've 'kitted' up for my mother, it should keep her entertained for a while :)

craft haul june 2015 - v4.0

Trying another non baby card with the DCWV Nana's Nursery papers, this time I've dug out a Stampin' Up cupcake stamp, but had to fussy cut it! I thought the cherries printed on the green paper deserved a food element on the card :)

may 2015 craft haul - version 2.3

I'm starting to feel the love a bit more with this kit... half a dozen or so cards in... I really quite liked how I'd arranged the flowers on the wreath and the quickutz scalloped circle die was still on my desk so I mixed the two and came up with this little number and I was really pleased... so pleased that I made another...

However, I'd run out of that cute word print paper, so I did the next best thing, that was use an actual page out of an actual book... (weird story, I ended up buying a book that had a binding error so page 326 was followed by pages 85-128!!!), still cute though.

may 2015 craft haul - version 2.2

I kept those Penelope's blossom stamps out on my desk and made this card, not long ago I bought a wreath die for my mum, and I was trying to emulate her cute easter card.

I'm starting to feel that the kit is working for me a bit better now, and I've discovered those weird vellum flowers can actually look quite good if you just bend each of the petals...

Just a scrap of patterned paper this time, but a few card scraps from the scrap box, and every little helps...

stampin' up showers

Using up those Stampin' Up papers with the spellbinders umbrella die again, this card is a miss, the arrangement of the sentiment just doesn't work.

under the weather

I love the sentiment 'under the weather' to send to people who are unwell, and I'm always on the search for a great umbrella die, this one is from Spellbinders, and it is not a great die, I was in fact really disappointed with it, and so the search continues... the patterned papers are from a stack of Stampin' Up papers I got years ago.

PPP 2nd Blog Hop - time for another

I've managed another card for the PPP Blog Hop, years ago I used to make cards using my scraps that look like they are inspired by Damian Hirst dot paintings, but I don't know if I was aware of those at the time. I've revisited the technique again though to use up my scraps.

hello baby

I don't know why I'm so attracted to making baby cards, but I do seem to make a disproportional number of them. This time I'm using up old Pebbles collection, New Arrival which I got as a 'pack with an album, stickers etc from TK Maxx back when I was in Aberdeen for silly money.

Here I've combined it with the American Crafts Simply Chic which I think I'll be using for a while to come and some Lawn Fawn die cuts. The baby is cut on my Silhouette, and no, I haven't yet managed to get it set up since moving house but this is something I cut back in Aberdeen as well onto sticky backed card.

I think its cute, but that's partly down to those cute birdies.

paper: American Crafts Simply Chic, Pebbles New Arrival
dies: lawn fawn scripty hello, hearts, spellbinders nestabilities circle
other: silhouette, silhouette adhesive cardstock
