congrats grad

being a university lecturer, at this time of year my mind is ultimately turned to exams and then onto graduation, and so left with quite bold black and white papers from the American Crafts Soho Gardens my mind ultimately turned towards a graduation card, the university colours here are blue and yellow, so I highlighted the black and white with a touch of yellow.

the joy of sewing

Another lavender bag, this time appliquéd die cuts from Lawn Fawn Blissful botanicals and Scripty Joy. Even with vilene the words cut in felt are incredibly fragile, I think the answer is to machine stitch such fine elements, but the leaves worked a treat! The leaves were stamped and the stamp lines were used as a template.

The whole thing was finished with some layered sequins and beads.

The Lawn Fawn Blissful Botanicals set was the first Lawn Fawn set I bought, maybe 4 years ago and I still use it all the time, such a great purchase.

version 2.0

This is version 2.0 of this card, I made it first off with just a couple of Prima flowers and some coloured leaves from Lawn Fawn Blissful Botanicals, this richer version is far better though.

going around and around

nearly the end of April already! just where does the year go, my declaration to keep blogging is falling behind a little, but I had a weekend of spring cleaning and craft so I have a couple of shares...

I embroidered this lavender bag ages ago, it was just waiting for the sewing machine to come out to get sewn up, it was quite a difficult image to sew, especially as I started doing it whilst away so I had no embroidery hoop, but the tension isn't terrible and I think it looks quite cute in the end...

I do love this sentiment :D

stupid but happies

I think sunflowers are really cheerful, along with daffodils I always refer to them as 'stupid but happies' a bit showy, not much there but really happy...

These Lawn Fawn sunflowers make a really cheery card.
