CFC-146 merry christmas
CAS-ual Friday's inspiration this week was snowflakes, nice and simple for this time of year.
I cut the Lawn Fawn stitched snowflakes from an acetate sheet and used it as a mask to ink on some old white ink, then I cut the wonderful 'Merry Christmas' from the Hero Arts from some glitter paper and decorated with a few Pretty Pink Posh sparkling clear sequins.

owl folk birthday wishes
I think I've probably said before that I make card 'kits' for my mum who only has use of one arm. The kits have everything cut and prepared, all stamping is done and everything needed is included.
My mum gave me a pad of paper from the Papermania Owl Folk collection, so that I could make some cards to share with U3A (whose logo is an owl); instead I've been making kits for her to make up.
This is the first that I shall share.

I've been messing around with my MFT chevrons again, in fact these chevrons are actually the waste between the two die sections :) It also nicely fits this weeks Lawnscaping challenge, which is to be inspired by a rainbow.

being complementary
I'm still playing along with the MFT summer school, and lesson 7 was about the use of complementary colours. I think this card would work well with any pair, but it needed the little bit of neutral on the card base, as white blue and orange all looked silly. BTW did you also spot my placement follows the rule of thirds?

revisiting the theme and variations
I really quite liked my sunset skies cards, and since the inks were still out on my desk I thought I'd try a variation... This time I tried to 'shade' with a grey as well as the black stamped image... I have my big star down by the word 'my' that was cover a splat from when I took the lid off my copics... secret fix :) and its a nice simple one layer card.

merry
The challenge this week on Daring Cardmakers was 'Christmas in July', and so I am getting a head start on those christmas cards, go me! I don't know where this whole Christmas in July thing has come from but I even heard it out in the wild in town today... very strange.

elemental
I have loads of little flash drives, all tiny, all identical, and each containing different things and so I wanted to find a way to identify each drive.
I love science, I really do, and all of my hard drives are named after elements, and I just thought mixing in the conical flask from Science of Love just worked so well with the Quinn's abcs on shrink plastic. A 3/16 hole punched with my crop-a-dile before shrinking with my heat gun and I was done.

mft summer school - rainbow bright
The My Favourite Things summer school was talking about colour today, specifically primary colours and colour wheels. So I've used my much loved chevron die and a few sequins to make a lovely rainbow.

I've bought the 1" distress ink pads, and have been trying to use them, practicing my blending. I'm not great with using them yet, and I'm always surprised how much smoother the ink is after fully drying.
Anyway, this was my attempt at a sunset sky, I've tried a few after making a mask, I'll share them in the coming days.

birthday tweeting
The challenge this month at Make the Day Special is to use a christmas stamp set for a non christmas set. I've discovered I have very few christmas sets, but one set I do have is Winter Sparrows from Lawn Fawn.
I've taken the bird with the ear muffs, and turned them into ear phones... I've also used part of the sentiment, the music notes and branch and leaves.

that's fintastic
Quite a few of the design team at Lawnscaping Challenges have been using their new Lawn Fawn So Jelly and Fintastic Friends stamps, and I just had to give them a go too as they've mostly been unused since buying a few weeks ago.
Lawnscaping Challenge 109 was 'sparkle & shine', and since buying my first Pretty Pink Posh sequins I've used them on everything so this one was easy for me :)
I've attempted a bokeh background, starting off with a selection of blue distress inks, and circle template cut from a sheet of acetate. I was quite pleased with my first effort :)

The challenge on the Sparkle & Shine blog this week was all red white and blue for American independence day, but I'm not american so I just interpreted the colours and used it as an excuse to try out my new ocean waves dies from Lawn Fawn, I'm really loving the sparkling clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh, I'm using them on almost everything at the moment :)

roller rink
I found some glitter tapes in Paperchase, 4 colours, 5 m of each for only £3. For some reason the colours remind me of the 70's specifically roller boots and disco. Simply teamed with a sentiment from Paper Smooches I think I've got a cute card :) and it fits perfectly with this weeks Anything Goes at Paper Smooches Sparks
